About Amelia
Amelia Hughes is an aerospace engineer on the front lines of America’s return to the moon and beyond. Based in Huntsville, Alabama—a city with a rich history in space exploration—she works for a major aerospace contractor, designing and testing propulsion systems for next-generation rockets. Her work involves complex computer modeling and hands-on testing of powerful rocket engines.
With a Master’s degree from Georgia Tech’s prestigious aerospace program, Amelia is passionate about the practical challenges of space travel. How do you build a vehicle that can withstand the violent forces of launch and the extreme environment of space? She joined EduEarth4U to share her insider’s perspective on the incredible engineering and teamwork required to explore the cosmos.
A private pilot in her spare time, Amelia loves the freedom of flight in all its forms. She is a dedicated advocate for encouraging young women to pursue careers in engineering and often speaks at local schools.
My Writing Philosophy
“Space exploration isn’t magic; it’s engineering. It’s thousands of people solving millions of incredibly difficult problems. I want to take you inside that process. My goal is to explain the ‘how’ behind the ‘wow’—to show you the brilliant design, the rigorous testing, and the sheer human ingenuity that makes it possible for us to reach for the stars.”
